New gifts – Learn the Lingala Language

Kinois have an interesting tradition when it comes to noticing if someone has wearing something new, for example, a new shirt or new shoes. The observer says ‘putulu’, which essentially means ‘congratulations’. But then that same person is expected to give the person with the new object a small gift, such as a soft drink.
